The world's biggest building made of golden teakwood was built in 1900 as a royal residence for King Rama V. However, it was used only until 1906 when the construction of Amphorn Satharn Villa was finished. The interior is decorated in European neo-classical style mixed with traditional Thai motifs. The palace was turned into a museum in 1982 by Queen Sirikit.
